I had this with my 7 series, which apparently is the most secure car on the market place.

My Brother bought a new D2 few years back and parked at Metro centre, did his shopping then returned to go home. Walking up to LR he pressed the fob, doors opened and he jumped in then noticed things he did not remember on dash and centre console. His key had opened another D2, same colour and he had not realised |

I always use the button on the doors to lock and unlock my doors. Habbit really, as my keys are always tucked away in my pocket.

I had a 325i hard top convertible and it was parked next to a 3 series saloon in a car park. When I returned to my car I pressed the unlock button and held it down ( as that opened the roof from the key) as I waited for the roof to start, the 3 series next to me unlocked itself and wound down all four windows |

First - using the button is still keyless.

The keyless transmitter range is only about 1m so they would need to be very close to clone assuming that is possible |

Yes, but my point is keyless is still wireless - ok you not the other side of the car park, but then ive never used the buttons...there are other countermeasures.

I had a 4.2 LSE Range Rover in 1995 that had an alarm that was giving trouble so had a decent aftermarket alarm (Clifford) fitted and that had technology to prevent the code being copied. Each time you operated the alarm it changed to a new code, I would be surprised if things hadn't moved forward in nearly 20 years....mind you I suppose it is Land Rover we are talking about here |

Unfortunately BMW owners are the ones still getting caught.
