United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Alternator Naffed

Battery light on on dash, called RAC guy out. Battery not charging.Smell of burning wires. Took to Indy.
Waiting for price. What price am i looking at? I think 5 hours labour plus alternator. £500-£600??

A friend of mine had his changed at a main dealer for £700 which included the water proofing following fitment. MY2007 RRS TDV8 Black - tinted glass - side steps- stormer grille - 20" diamond cut alloys - alpaca leather - TV/DVD pack - some blingy chrome bits & bob's

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Considering a new Denso alternator can be bought for the TDV6 for £216 and takes half an hour to fit; £700 at a dealer does not seem like good value. So far as I know the alternator is already protected against water and the workshp manual doesn't mention anything about 'waterproofing'.

The larger output TDV8 Den so new is £318 and takes an hour and a half to fit. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I had the same thing in November 2013 in my RRS TDV8.
Charging indicator, stink and additionally fire under the hood. Shocked Fire fighting ended, replacing the alternator and engine repair of harness.
