More likely to be a valve issue in one of the valve blocks. There are three valve blocks: one for each end of the vehicle and one adjacent to the compressor. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

There are fault codes associated with the valve blocks so you could have the codes read by an LR dealer or a good independent specialist which would probably be less expensive. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I think you'll need a diagnostic tool of some kind.
