Mine has an oily type film on the lower external surface. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

There will always be a film of oil on the inside of a modern turbo diesel intake system. If the hose clips are not tight enough, occasionally they will leak |

the sump ventilation is going into the air intake before the turbo so yes it is normal. |
