Hi everyone,
My sat nav failed on the 2006 beyond repair so I bought a same identification code working unit from ebay off a DISCO 3 which i understand is the same.

I have read the issues upgrading the DISCO 3 unit in car to get RR features (cutting wires etc) but does anyone know if I need to take it into LR to get a software reload.

The screen is dim and some of the phone features are screwed...wrong dialled numbers, phone book and my reverse camera doesnt seem to be recognised.

When you sat nav unit you mean the Touch screen if so it should just work when you boot it up, I retro fitted sat nav in my D3 and all the parts where sourced from a RRS and work fine.

If what your saying is that your RRS is not recognizing that the screen is connected to RRS and instead thinks it on a D3.

If so I would try a hard rest first and if this fails try the wire cutting mod to make the screen boot up in RRS mode.

sorry yes the touch screen. i fitted a Disco 3 version into my RRS 2006. SAt Nav works fine but the screen is dim. I thought cutting the wire was for Disco not RR, or is that to fool the software in the touch screen?

The sensor used on the D3 for dimming the touch screen is different its on the dash on the rev counter face where as the RRS sensor is not.

By the way the software is already loaded in the screen for both car models.

Just noticed the year of your car you will need to do the mod on the screen to get it to work..

So I need to do the cut wire bit to make this DISCO screen work on my Range Rover 2006? I assumed you could just upload some new software onto the unit to make it work on the Range Rover.

oh well...think i'll just buy a Range Rover version as the screen is with current dimness
