Another 'no sound' problem

Variations of this seem to have been discussed before but I have search the forum posts and the closest is where the SatNav and Radio have not shut down at lock-up, flattening the battery.

My issue is similar but not that. On a few occasions, and the most recent today, when I unlock and start up my 2005 G4 RRS HSE the screen comes on showing the Land Rover logo, but not at maximum brightness, and all the radio controls seems to work; on-off, CD, Aux etc but with no sound.

If I switch off and lock the car the screens go blank and the next time I unlock everything functions okay again. Its happened three or four times now and although I only got it last month it came with 6 months warranty from a LR specialist but not a main dealer. I have unlocked, ejected and replaced the SatNav CD from the unit under the passenger seat and checked the connections but fault still appeared again.

Appreciate any similar experiences and suggestions please as I have not been able to find the same issue discussed anywhere.

Thank you

When this happens on boot up one of your ecu's on the most system is not booting up as its a ring and if one does not boot up it stops the others after it from booting up, the only way unless it stops working fully is to put a bypass on each most connection on the module and see if it does not lock up any more.
Or to see if any codes have been logged to look in the right direction..

Thank you flack. Although I really appreciate the response I confess I don't understand it, especially 'most system' reference.

Embarassed

Edit: Since this post I have been searching everywhere and found the same sort of help with a detailed explanation of the MOST fibre optic bus which has helped me understand flack's response. The same issue comes up on Disco3 and FFRR forums it seems. One of the best references I found is here: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/l322-ent...65773.html

Hope this helps anyone else searching for a reason for the dead satnav and radio problem! There certainly seem to be plenty of us Rolling with laughter RRS 4.4 V8 HSE G4 LE 2005

Wales 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange

mine did this once, it was a poor battery. The battery worked fine, started the car fine etc, and I really didn't believe the dealer when they said it was the battery. Changed it, and all A1 perfect again !  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !
