Currently driving one of these courtesy of my dealer

Having driven the L322 FFRR 4.4 TDV8 Vogue last year I am a bit disappointed

The old V8 sounded incredible and pulled like a rocket but the V6 feels a bit underpowered

The ride is fantastic but still leans a bit on the corners - not as much as the L322 but more than the sport

Inside the panoramic roof and space are amazing. Outside the electric towbar and deployable steps are

Tried to get it in the garage but stuck out about a foot compared to the sport - it is massive but does not feel it when driving

Only driven home but got 32 mpg compared to 27 mpg same run in MY13 RRS this morning

Price tag is £85000 on the one I have but can not see point of spending £30000 more than the black edition I just got

On paper the FF is nearly a second quicker to 60 but also somewhat lighter, bigger cars always seem slower but its probably down to how it delivers the power, much smoother than the sport, its all to do with how its mapped and geared. Mpg on your motor will improve the more miles you put on it, if you ever get it back. But i think i'd of driven a few more miles before i'd of commented and compared it to the sport. Bare in mind they are two completely different vehicles, one is for the old man and the other is for the young man.

My MY13 spot now regularly is at 31mpg and runs will take it to 33mpg...so wait until you break it in

Im still not a fan of the new FFRR, its not bad but i wouldnt say i love it - there was one on the drive a few hours ago - a lot depends on the specs, the silly chrome makes it worse in my opinion remove that and it looks better...not great mind Mike

Mike - I agree on the chrome and I would like the door fins removed too

I agree - those fins (to mirror the outgoing model's air intakes) could go and the front could be made a bit more classy...and i dont mean evoque like - the lines are fine Mike

2014 Facelift Discovery

Before I drove my friend's RRS Black t'other day, I thought that the FFRR was the one to have. Having driven his (with less than 2k miles on it) I was impressed by how much better it felt compared to my 08 RRS. It felt better than I remembered his previous facelift-TDV6 had done too. The SDV6 / 8 speed gearbox combination was great although it did just feel a little bit lacking when overtaking. The ride was much firmer but not hard and suggests that mine (at 65k miles) might need new dampers. The brakes were better with much more bite on initial application - something I like.

I do still think the FFRR is fabulous, however, and would still look at one in a few years - second hand sadly because £80k+ is too much to justify on a vehicle (lottery win notwithstanding of course!). The FFRR we drove at Luton Hoo recently just felt imperious on the track and obstacles where the others had let you know that the suspension was working hard beneath you.

I just hope the newer models have increased reliability along with their increased price tags... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The way L/R are going with its reliability pricing and super customer service i will not be buying another Range Rover, They don't deserve my hard earned cash. Never been a fan of the FFRR although they do look good on the road The new RRS looks too much like the Evoque which is not for me either. I certainly wouldn't pay what L/R are now asking for an equivalent spec to mine

ignoring liking or not the new RRS (and its not earth shatteringly brilliant like these sports have been), there is no way im going to waste any more cash for less or even more for the same spec, its just a waste.

Even if i had the cash to waste on a FFRR, they are nice, but i like them less.

So far ive been happy with the customer service etc - but its going to be changed soon, which really leaves me with few options Mike

It cant get any worse

After 2 days driving this beast I agree its not brilliant - it still has too much body roll compared to the sport and parking it is a nightmare - you need a disabled badge so I would have to take my Father in law everywhere but he finds it hard to get in due to lowered roof compared to old model

That said if I won the lottery the TDV8 would be my first purchase

The space inside is immense - 20ish year old daughter and 2 big teenage lads in the back look like characters out of the Hobbit - downside the boot doesn't look as big as the old model due to lower roof and rear door slope

That just sounds so wrong

The marks were on when I got it and just mean they look small in the back because of the space
