To blank or not to blank. That is the question??

Hi all,

Yes - I have done a search (before the search police arrive )

It seemed inconclusive and I wanted to check current thinking with the experts out there please

Also is it best to get a kit such as the BAS one or do the 2p thing.

And if I buy the kit is it straight forward enough to give to any mechanic or am I best going to a specialist indie?

The BAS kit is a "removal" kit, the EGR pipework is removed completely, though expensive at £50 for 4 steel plates...

The "2p" kit, I would avoid and buy a £10 "blanking" kit from Ebay. 2 plates that go under the EGR pipework, still looks OEM, and a lot more inconspicuous

Is there any difference in quality/durability in the kits or can I just go for the cheapest as its just a bit of metal?

This EGR block off prevents EGR failure in the future? Won't the engine light turn on?

Its only 2 steel plates. Obviously, the thicker, the better, but otherwise they are all the same
