so i booked an appointment to sell my car an 08 Lexus RX400h on Sunday. 08 reg 29500 on the clock, slight scratch on drivers door

I am picking my new RRS HSE Black up on 1st March and RR offered me £12.5 k for a px on 01/03/2013. WBAC offered and online valuation of £16215.00, now i know they will knock off money but even if they reduce it by £1000.00 im still quids in !!

what is everyones view/expierences on this lot

i dont need to pay anything if i decline their offer do i ?

Trust me it will be cheap ! I have a friend of a friend the works for them... They are trained to haggle you down on every single little problem, marks and scratches included and typically end up with a figure below trade price so be wary.

I have also heard of a certain group of reps that haggle you down to a silly figure, then offer a higher cash price to buy it themselves to sell on !



Unless you are desperate to sell on' i'd risk private, of course if you are happy with their offer then great  Why?.. Because i can....

I am getting offered £12500 from RR so i will wait and see how much they drop their online valuation price by and see. Could sell it privately but that decision will be made after Sunday

Mate of mine traded his X5 two years ago, they bid a strong price and then tried to knock it down he said f**k off and walked away they came back and paid him the original offer price. Stand your ground and it might work!

would a lexus dealer be interested in a cash sale, or is a 08 too old to sell on their forecourt

or maybe a independent car garage, i sold my wifes old car to one for twice what the dealer offered

Yes WBAC have offered £16215 where as the dealer offered £12500 so got something to play with when I take it to them on Sunday 2013 13.5 MY HSE BLACK with privacy glass, vision assist pack, side steps and ebony headlining

Okay back from my appt AT WBAC

I cleaned the car this morning, blackened the tires didn't spend too much time on it but enough for it to make a difference

Pulled up went through the paperwork with the sales rep verified my details and then she looked over the car. I had a scratch on the drivers door and another one on the passenger wing and a small stone dent as well. I didn't get it serviced last year as I was unemployed and something had to give (£500 major service at Lexus) MOT due in march 2013, and petrol tank was near empty.

Went back in and she quoted me £15,337,00 a reduction of £878.00 (with fee and next day payment fee the net amount came to £15,237.26 which I gladly accepted

RR offered me £12,500 PX on march 1 for my new HSE black which is on order.

The book price on parkers is approx £15k and yes I know it will go on a forecourt for £20-22k bit that's the same fir every second hand car sale. But still got £2,737 more than RR offered me  2013 13.5 MY HSE BLACK with privacy glass, vision assist pack, side steps and ebony headlining

Sounds like a result  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Not too bad a result, but i would of gone back to L/R and showed them the offer you have been given for an outright purchace and not a px and asked them to match the offer or i wouldn't be buying a sport off them. Granted it was an offer for a px in march, but still worth a try.
