Hi,

I have to drive from Dublin, via Holyhead, to do some work in London and I figured it was a good chance to get a proper service without getting fleeced as normal in Dublin. I have a few minor issues with the car so again good chance to get them sorted such as a dent in the car and the central locking is acting up (the driver door won't lock and the rear passenger door only opens after three beeps of the key).

I am very open to going to an independent garage that specialise in Land Rover if anyone can recommend one, otherwise which approved service centre has good reports. I will be staying in London and working out Oxford way so anywhere on the M40 corridor would be perfect. However happy to consider anywhere in general London area if a compelling reason.

Welcome to London. If you don't want to be fleeced I'd suggest you avoid LR Dealerships like the plague

You don't say what the dent problem is exactly but any good bodyshop should be able to fix it.Repairing and painting any panel seems to be about £150 at a good independent. I can strongly recommend Langley Autocraft in Kings Langley near Watford (01923 269456) for painting and they will lend you a little courtesy car at no additional charge. If its just a small dent perhaps you could use a smart repair company.

Your central locking issues are probably just faulty latches; they often fail. Parts are about £40 per door ordered from site sponsor Duckworths. Fitting is a bit fiddly but anyone who has done it before should able to do it in an hour per door. There is a very detailed how to with pictures on our sister D3 website. I did my drivers door latch in the summer with no problems. Langley Autocraft would probably have a go (they do servicing as well as paint) but I would give them the parts and copy of the how to guide. Speak to the boss who's name is Keir first?
