I can only comment on what I've found and my new D3 handles surprisingly good and much better than I was expecting and I would say is virtually equal to my SE RRS.

While the D3 has the styling of a house brick, there is definitely less wind noise around the top of the windscreen and pillars. I'm not the first to notice this either....I read the same in a magazine review some time ago.

I agree. If you want a 5 seater with average boot space, get a RRS and if you want something larger, get a D3. But from what I've found the D3 does everything else just as well and isn't the step down as I was expecting. I find the general ride quality much better in the D3 due to a softer setup and therefore with this and the added practicality, I've found the D3 a more satisfying vehicle.
However, I do still lust after the RRS looks. And I think that is the key difference between the two. Under the skin the two cars are so similar in many ways and the Sport has many small driver orientated tweaks which, coupled with the sleeker styling make it overall a car that is admired and lusted after as being class act. Whereas the D3 has an image of practicality and ruggedness, but as they start from only £26K, they are not put in the prestige class as a Range Rover is. But a SE or HSE spec D3 is a match to any prestige £40-£50K 4x4. Matt

I am continually surprised by the bad feeling felt and vented by RRS owners towards the D3.

The ribbing from D3 owners is clearly only in jest, however there is clearly some deeper hatred, which is shameful to be honest Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Not from me - don't tell anyone but I want a D3 as my second car, can you please keep that quiet from the pikeys on D3! The D3 is a good, good car as is the RRS!

I don't hate D3's. After all, they continually win awards despite newer, fresher competitors being launched on a fairly regular basis.
