RTFM i Know, but, Question on electric seats

Why does my drivers seat always reposition to my wife's ridiculously small settings every time I get out of the car or lock it. There must be some memory setting on keys or on the car as a whole but it's immensley frustrating and I can't find anything in the manual to explain how to turn it off. We use different keys so I'd hoped it would remember mine too?

Any help from this amazingly knowledgable forum appreciated!

I didn't think they have key specific settings tbh Confused Sounds like its got its knickers in a twist.

Maybe turn off the auto setting on the steering olumn and also reset the memory seat positions, then set it back to auto. Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

The memory seats can be key specific, I think it's called smart entry or something like that. If you took some fog and put it in a jar, would it be missed.

I'd like to know this too, as I have the same issue. My 2006 RRS had seat memory specific to the key, but theres nothing in the manual about it being in the 2010+ models ?

Anyone know if the 2010+ models have it ?

Isn't it Lazy Entry ?

Lazy entry
The 'LAZY ENTRY' menu allows the driver to disable or enable the lazy entry function which moves the exterior door mirror and the seat position to that set by the driver. The memory positions are stored in the memory module and the individual settings are recognised from the ignition key identification.

Lazy entry and associated options can be selected or deselected by a Land Rover Dealer/Authorised Repairer or by selecting Settings.

Each time the ignition switch is turned from position II to position I, the memory module automatically stores the positions of the exterior mirrors and driver seat, together with the identity of the ignition key. If the lazy entry feature is enabled, when a remote control is used to unlock the vehicle, the memory module compares the stored positions of the exterior mirrors and driver seat, for the associated ignition key, against the current positions. If necessary, the memory module then moves the exterior mirrors and driver seat to the stored positions. If the lock button on the remote control is pressed, during lazy entry movement of the exterior mirrors or driver seat, all movement stops immediately.

Setting options

With the starter key in any position, but with the vehicle stationary and a blank screen displayed, a short press (less than two seconds) on the i (information) button on the end of the direction indicator stalk brings up the SETTINGS display.
Once this screen is displayed, pressing button 1 (track skip) gives access to the menu of options that can be personalised.

Move through the Settings menu by pressing buttons 1 or 2 (track skip), and make choices by pressing buttons 3 or 4 (volume up/down).
When you have finished making adjustments, a short press (less than two seconds) on the i button will return you to the trip computer display.

Not 100% sure which MY this applies to though.

Thanks for that Mr Frog, but it realtes to pre MY10 cars unfortunately.

I've been right through the manual and the settings menu in the car this morning on my MY10 TDV8, and no mention of Lazy Entry ( or Lazy anything for that matter !), and no mention of seat memory being linked to the keys either.

I can't think LR would have dropped the feature, as it was there on the original RRS ? Anybody using it on a 2010 + car ?

Likewise tonser, tried to find these on my MY12 and no luck - I did have a key specific setting feature on my 5 series BMW, but I cannot find anything in the manual on my RRS.

Did you get any joy Jonathan, did you try anything to reset it ? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

To bring this thread back to life..

Does the key have to be set up as lazy entry, or the car? Whenever I use my key, the seat is all adjusted for me. When my short-ass girlfriend uses her key, it stays where I left it. If she presses the memory on the seat it adjusts, just not with the key. 07 TDV6 HSE in Stornoway Grey, 20" alloys |08 XF SV8 on order.

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

Once the power operated driver's seat, steering column and exterior mirrors are adjusted, the vehicle can memorize these settings for future use.

To set:

1. Press the memory store (M) button to activate the memory function.

2. Press one of the preset buttons within 5 seconds to memorize the current settings.
MEMORY (1, 2 or 3) SETTINGS SAVED will be displayed on the message center, accompanied by an audible chime to confirm the settings have been memorized.

3. To recall a stored position press the relevant preset button. MEMORY (1, 2 OR 3) RECALLED will be displayed in the message center.

Now, instead of pressing a preset memory button on the seat every time, you can activate Lazy Entry.
The lazy entry feature can be activated or deactivated via the setting menu of the high line instrument cluster.

The first driver sets the above seat settings with his key in the ignition. This set memory will be associated with his key.
Likewise, the 2nd driver sets his seat memory whilst his key is in ignition. And his seat memory will be memorised too.

Pressing the unlock button on the remote transmitter will initiate a memory recall of the positional values for that remote control (1st or 2nd driver). Malaysia Boleh!

That's helpful, and very similar to the above, but I can't seem to access the settings menu! Is it the screen between the dials? I've tried every key position and pressed the "i" button on the left stalk but all I can get it to do is reset the trip info! 07 TDV6 HSE in Stornoway Grey, 20" alloys |08 XF SV8 on order.
