Wheel Balance Weights

Land Rover have issued a new addenda to the handbook concerning the type of balance weights used with 19" wheels.
They now recommend stick-on weights and that any other type is "unsafe", although they don't say why Confused
I'll try to get more details.

Paul

Until recently LR fitted the hammer on type but they used to fall off before the end of the production line or something like that!

Stick-on weights don't mark the rims. I'd go for those every time. RRS 4.2 S/C. Zermatt. Tints. Stormers. 150+ paint defects, wonkey bonnet, scratches, detached doorseal. suspension faults. To sum it up, a 60k pile of cr4p!

There was a spate of out of balance wheels/ severe wheel wobble reports on the forums....................... one of our number works at LR and found that the wheel supplier had been using the hammer on weights but they weren't hammering them on hard enough and they were falling off before the car reached the customer................. or something like that. LR are now using the stick on weights. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The clip-on weights can be seen on the outer rim of the wheel face, whereas the stick-on weights tend to flat and stuck to the inside face of the wheel and can be seen between the spokes.
