Just seen government proposing 40 mph on country roads - where I live we already have new 50mph signs just about everywhere |

agreed...al it will do is encourage people to ignore speed limits even more...resulting in 30mph zones being ignored more (bad enough as it is) RRS gone

It’s not about safety, it’s about revenue, make all the rural roads 40mph and everybody gets frustrated. Then when you come to a straight piece of road you’ll overtake, where do you think the camera van will be parked.. Just waiting for the money to roll in.

A law that can't be properly enforced is a bad law. The proposal will result in a large number of reduced speed limits which, of course, won't be enforced because they won't be able to afford to do so. The result will be large numbers of people breaking the law.
