I do currently do my own servicing and maintenance with support from both my dad and brother-in-law, to be honest there isnt a lot they can't do and my dad has a workshop, so could no doubt save a small fortune. Getting the service book stamped isn't a problem. I wouldn't expect to exceed 8000 miles a year.

Running costs are not cheap, they do like a drop of tractor juice.
However, saying all of that, they do give you the feel good factor, even if they do empty the bank account.
Drive it properly, (like you stole it) and you should get 20ish MPG, drive like your granny, I understand 30ish is possible
Don't forget to put aside circa £500 or so for a BAS remap

Have you checked out insurance quotes yet, you sound like a younger chap and may well find the insurance a wee bit more than others have quoted on this thread.

Well as of last weekend I've owned my 06 2.7 RRS a year ,below are my cost for the 1st year

Insurance 586quid
Tax 460 ( now 475)
60k service 340 inc vat
New rear pads discs 230 inc vat
Only getting about 350 miles out of a tank , but to give you an idea of the type of miles the car does my average speed is around 24mph ,almost all town work , display usually says I'm getting 21/23 MPG , I have seen 34 on a decent motorway run, the lowest 18
I don't do big miles , in the 1st year about 5.5k , but hopfully this will give you some idea

So am I happy with owning an RRS , oh yes , so much so that I think I've already decided that as soon as the facelift TDV8 fall into my budget that could well be my next car
