No white cords showing so is it really that dangerous? I read tyre walls are 1 inch thick... |

Looks to be mostly restricted to the rim guard outside of the bead itself.

I took to my mate who owns a tyre shop and he said its nothing to worry about. No white cord showing etc, he said he would glue the rubber back if I wanted but makes no difference. |

I agree, my local dealer assured me that a tyre on my RRS with a similar cut was perfectly safe & legal. Let's face it, if it wasn't they'd have soon said so to get a sale |

I don't know that I would be happy, with the kids in the car, driving down a motorway in the pouring rain with a chunk out of my tyre like that, legal or not............. |

I caught the curb at a width restriction over a year ago and done the same thing done tons of motorway driving since no problems. |

Personally, I'm in the same camp as Jim, although yes, I'm sure it 'probably' is safe enough, I'm not sure I'd want to take the risk to find out |

Got a couple small chunks out tyres n no problems, had them looked at and it's been through two MOT's which I think wouldn't of passed if the tester felt them unsafe to be on the road Java black 2006 |
