It's been an expensive & frustrating time getting it here and registered, but by god it's been worth it now I'm driving around in it. It's certainly turning a few heads. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

The 9 was the number of G4's taking part in the 2006 event... but they made a few more than that (premotions and backup's I'd imagine) RRS gone

The bright orange of these reminds me years ago when Mazda won the LM24 hours, they created a special edition MX5 (yes, I know, as gay as f k, but not a bad car as it had the BBR turbo conversion ). I nearly bought one, really wish I did, very rare car now! ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

35 Sports were made for 2006, at least 1 was written off on the event when (as I recall) 4 journos rolled it down a mountain side. Mine is one of the 20 used in Thailand, ironically by the Australian competitor. According to the check I did through DVLA, only mine & 1 other RRS have been exported, rumour has it the other RRS is in Oz, but no one's ever seen it nor has the owner (if it is here) made contact with the club.

I think 8 were done for the the 2009 challenge and of those, only 2 or 3 were ever used, the TDV8's. The rest didn't get anything other than orange paint and were sold off by LR when the event was cancelled, having never been used. At least 2 were bought by dealers and painted white, one of the bare orange cars is somewhere in London afaik and 2 of the TDV8's are owned by G4 club members. I know a member who tried to get one of the TDV8's when it was auctioned off by LR but it went for bonkers money and turned up for £42k on a main dealers forecourt. I'd love one of the fully kitted TDV8's, but that's not going to happen out here.

There's a couple of 2006 cars for sale at the moment, being petrol V8's in a 'challenging' colour they're relatively cheap. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.
