You should have offered a pony and drink down at the rubber tub, but then have slid him a monkey and a nod and a wink. After a Gary Glitter and a few Vera Lynns you could have probably got him down to an elephant, then up the apples and pears for a bit of slap and tickle with the trouble and strife...........
