Rear Camera - yellow guide lines

All,

I took delivery of my 2012 RRS on Friday but I noticed today when reverse is selected the camera (rear view) is shown on the screen but the yellow lines do not move they remain straight.

I would have expected these yellow guide lines to move with the steering wheel as per my old Jaguar XF.

Do I have a fault?

Thanks
Paul.

They certainly move with the steering on my MY11 so looks like you have a fault. Hope your dealer is not too far away.

The lines only move if you have the surround cameras.
If you just have the reversing camera, the lines stay straight. I asked a similar question and was told that by James from Lookers PR.
Seems a little silly as it can't be that difficult to activate, just seems its something they hold back unless you opt for surround cameras. Rolling Eyes ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

oldcro do you have surround view?

My old XF (which I assume is the same) only had the rear camera and the lines moved when I turned the wheel.

Paul.

LR is different to Jaguar. As Beancounter has advised, the guide lines only move if you have the surround camera system.

Yes I do have the surround cameras, although I'm surprised that it is needed to get moving guide lines. Not that I chose the option so my yellow lines could move with the steering you understand. Whistle Laughing

I'm guessing this would be a very simple exercise for LR to activate on non surround camera equipped cars.
Anyone heard of anyone that has done this on MY12 Question ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

This seems quite silly to me too. The system in the XF seems almost identical to the one in the RRS. From audio to navigation. Moving lines would seem to be a very simple change indeed.

If Jaguar rolled it out as an "update" when the cars went in for a service (customers choice) then it would certainly not do the brand and customer loyalty any harm indeed. Not that it requires it in my view at present, but its a thought. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

All,

Many thanks for all your replies, It seems uttlerly stupid to me why put the yellow lines on at all if they are not going to move.

Most odd

Paul.

Is there no software out there for RR's like there is for many other cars, for example for Volkswagen they have something called VAG-COM/VCDS and it's a programme that will let you change this such as this, as well as loads of other things and most manufacturers seam to have them so surprised RR doesn't?

maybe speak to someone who offers the RR Sport lowering and see if they have the tool to read the CAN-BUS data, then trick it into thinking you have full system, probably just a simple binary change from a 0 to a 1!

HTH!

Agh my bad, is faultmate just a fault code reader or can you go into more depth and change things such as DRl power, seatbelt chimes etc?

Agh sorry wasn't really after changing them was just an example of the things that you can change using certain software, I'm still trying to get rid of my MK5 Golf GTi before I dip into the RRS!
