I use foam a fair bit, going to be ordering some soon too as autobright have a offer on their magifoam, which is a great foam and clings to the car for longer than some

Im quite disappointed after having my first attempt to remove the said scratches using Pooboys SSR-2.5 swirl remover on the scratch. as you can see from the before and after the scratches are still there.

How long did you work the polish for? You need to work the abbresives down then the degrade into a finer refining polish the help enhance the finish

Maybe 2 minutes by hand. The instructions said the product will turn to a dust when in fact it didn't. I haven't used the product myself but I would say you need to work it longer using a sponge applicator pad

If these are like sponges I would have though the pressure you can apply would be less than by hand with a cloth?

I don't know the answer to that one,

it's not all about rubbing as hard as you can though, medium to firm pressure and time will let the product do the work, the sponge keeps the polish on the surface and won't inflict damage in its own right, a cloth could I guess

My DA polishing pads are foam, dense cutting and the gradually get softer as they go up the range to ultra finish pads

sherlock, give Autoglym UDS a go, thats all I use after €3 in the local jet wash.  In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

The bottom line is that when working by hand, scratches should be masked/filled rather than polished out. To remove scratches you need a mechanical polisher. So for my situation I should buy a foam applicator and try and get a filler polish to do the job.
