Sat Nav goes off on Engine Start

Hi,

I would like some help please - Had a search and couldn't find quite the same thing Sad

When I put the key in my '06 TDV6 HSE and turn to let the system checks run the sat nav comes on. Then when I actually start the engine the screen goes black and the Nav restarts?? I'm pretty sure it didnt use to do this - is this normal??

I checked the battery and alternator with a multimeter and they both seem fine Question

Anyone have any ideas, or do they all do this and I've just forgotten Whistle

Thanks in Advance,

Pat 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

Mine's always done this... more so in the winter which suggests tired battery

Do you get any suspension errors on start up ever? RRS gone

Thanks for the responses guys Thumbs Up

So from an ignorant point of view how do I test if my battery is on the way out as with a multimeter it gave consistently over 12V and with the engine running and full load (CD/heated seats/Air Con) it was still giving around 14??

Thanks,

You'd be measuring alternator output voltage in that scenario - IIRC you need a discharge test which is semi destructive AIR. This tests the abilty of the battery to hold / maintain charge - not what it is being charged at.
