All RRS diesels (well UK anyway) have a FBH which assists the engine in heating up quicker in cold climates (sub 4deg IIRC). The Remote Park Heating uses the FBH to pre-warm the cabin by remote. This has been an option for some time, and was made standard on diesel Autobiography when it was launched. Just to confuse things, Timed Climate was introduced on 12my which is similar to RPH however you set a timer via the Infotainment screen as opposed to using the remote.

With regards to smoke, personally I find that the first few times the FBH cuts in on a new vehicle it can produce a lot of smoke. The same can be said for an older car during the first FBH cycle due to old diesel being sat in the FBH fuel lines over the summer months.

FBH operation

I have heard that the FBH is only there to assist the warm up of the engine. It operates when the engine is started, and warms the water so as to get engine temperature up quicker. The smoke at the front of the car is the exhaust of the heater, comes out front n/s wing. I have also heard that it can be converted to remote operation before engine start up. At about £200 Look at Webasto web site. Says it can be activated on a timer or from 1000 mtrs itisme

You can get a few 3rd party systems that will get the FBH started without starting the engine. I had one fitted that started the FBH using a phone number - fantastic as I phoned the car up 20 minutes before I was due to go out on a cold morning and the car was nice and warm with all iced up windows cleared. Well worth the investment IMO. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Hi,Very Annoyed, Have you got a contact number for the fitters that did this for you? I have tried to contact the engineers on the Webasto Site but none of them reply. Also as i bought my RRS used i dont know if it had a remote, and was kept by previous owner or lost.It must have a reciever to use a remote. itisme

99% sure you will not have a remote as very few people fit these kits. Mine was a unit we bought as a group buy on this site but pretty sure site sponsors bellautos do something similar. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

are the FBH and the Park Heater different things?

Yes and no

The Park heater is a software option to enable the option on the central screen and extra hardware for the remote

Uses the same hardware to generate the heat

Which works as the car decides to speed up heating if you dont have the enable park heat...which can be enabled Mike

Fuel Burning Heater (FBH) - Fitted to all Diesels to speed engine heat-up.

Remote Park Heating - Std on Autobiography Diesel and optional on others. Can activate the FBH before starting the car to heat the interior.

Timed Climate - As per RPH but instead of a remote you set a timer via the Nav screen. Std on 12my.

As mentioned - timed climate is software, remote is addition of hardware for the remote only and software and all use the base kit (hardware) for the FBH Thumbs Up Mike
