They are very similar on paper only. As the majority of previous posters already have outlined there is a world of difference between the two and believe me mpgs are not worse with the TDV8. So IMHO if you go for the TDV8 you will never regret it 2010 TDV8 Ultimate Edition, zermatt-ebony-grand lacquer, and all the goodies, plus Superchips Bluefin ECU performance upgrade, Gibson Performance exhaust tips gone after only 7 months: MY10 TDV63.0 HSE, zermatt-ebony-anigree, Dynamic Response, Rear diff-lock, flappy paddles, premium leather, Sunroof, PTI, privacy glass, S/C design 5 Spoke Diamond Turned alloys |

Yeah, never understood the whole "buy it at a spec that will make it easier to sell" line of reasoning. You're buying a car for you - spec what you want, not what the next owner may or may not want.

3.0 TDV6 is everything the TDV8 is...plus i think the later TDv6's in the 11my range got more kit inside than the year before...things like the TV.

i didn't say they were, Money is always a factor however. The reason i highlighted it was a while back the TDV8 out performed the rest of the RRS range in terms of resale but with the move to the 3.0 TDV6 the playing field has changed. If i was buying a 06-09 car id be looking at TDV8's as the 2.7 TDV6 wasn't the best in terms of performance, 59 and later id be looking towards the newer technology TDV6. |

Same speed, better mpg, improved emissions, still moves the car, you cant see it under the bonnet etc...hence i think the TDv6 is as good as you need, if you want a v8 (and i do) its only the supercharged... Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery |

I have been reading all the V8 vs V6 comments with interests, I have to say that I am more than happy with the performance of my 3.0 V6, it is a very quick, quiet car and seems to return around 30mpg but if I am being honest, had it have been possible, I would have bought the V8, it would have been worth it for the V8 sound alone |
