My 4.4 (2005) RRS has a slight oil leak from the sump gasket. I have been told that this is an 'engine out' job to remove the sump and replace the gasket and have been quoted £2k!!! Can anyone tell me if this is right please?

dont know if engine needs to come out or not but £2k ? they are having a laugh
i dont know what std time is to take it out but lets say a day , eight hrs and 8 to put it back, total 16hrs or so they must be charging £120per hr ? cant be right !!!

Thanks Repsolman - tha actual quote was £2,500 cash!! It would be cheaper to buy a recon engine and fit that I reckon!! RRS 4.4 with all the toys

So, in the absence of any info re the removal of my oil sump (withough having to remove the engine) does anyone know where I might get hold of a workshop manual please for a 2005 RRS 4.4?

perhaps Bobby can help/advise, surely £2500 cant be correct, If Bobby's about he might be able to advise the standard time that LR allow for a remove & refit the engine?
