I get that all the time, I think its because I live in a zero coverage area and rely on the Voda Sure Signal.....it never picks up the signal and constantly requires a reboot when I enter the house, the £150 Nokia switches straight away, the £600 Apple doesn't !! I am talking about phone signal johnny not the wifi, if I switch the 3G off the phone call signal is 100% better. Strange I know and I was on the verge of getting rid of my iPhone then found something about it on google.

Give it a try, switch off the 3G and give the phone about 3 or 4 mins and see if the phone signal bars improve. Worked for me, went from zero to full 5 bar signal 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography

I get this all the time when I'm away from the UK - I was told it was because of static build-up on the SIM and to take the SIM out and wipe it with an anti static cloth - works OK but it can be frustrating when you've just arrived at an airport and all you can hear is everybody else's phone getting signals and all the iPhone users are busy staring at theirs and wondering if they will be able to get anything! The other thing to try is to switch it to airplane mode and back again. And turning off the 3g and data definitely helps 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sure fire fix for you...

Take the sim card out...place the phone on the floor (ideally face down) behind the wheel of any car (ideally a range rover sport) and reverse the car, followed quickly by driving forward.

Repeat until you are sure the phone is no longer giving the error and then go a buy a decent phone (apple dont make decent phones BTW) Mike

Jonny, have you done a full restore?

My old 3G one would go funny every so often - always at airports etc when roaming for a signal and you needed to make an important call Evil or Very Mad

I found that letting iTunes back everything up and doing a full factory reset cured my issues. Reinstalling the software seemed to clear whatever glitches were there. Strangely I have had no issues with my iPhone 4 and cannot envisage ever being without it.

If you have tried all the resets etc then book an appointment with the apple geniuses (assuming you bought it from an apple store) and they will check it over and swap it for another unit for you. I did this with one phone as the colour temp of the screen was awful - all the whites appeared slightly yellow.

very ofter in poor signal areas it is due to 3g. on may ocasions turning 3g off fixes the problem of lost reception. there seems to be a problem when the phone autmatically switches between, 2g, 3g and places where there is no data transfer possible.
if not, try resetting network services (settings -> general > at the bottom of the list).
Strangely enough I found that the problem with 3g started when I changed the network provider last year. Before, I did not have such problems on my iphones. My name: Patryk
