Just about to buy an RRS...Help please

Hi everybody, i am new to this and i would like some info please as i am about to buy a HSE 2008 RANGE ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT 2.7 TDV6...... 42k on the clock and the dealership is asking £28,000 for it. its not from a Land Rover garage but from a local garage. its also got 22inch upgraded Land Rover five spoke alloys fitted...

could anyone please advice on the price and theres just a few things i'd like to know:

does the iphone 3gs work with the bluetooth?
does it have auto lights (coming home lights) that can be controlled by the key fob?
do the wing mirrors fold in upon locking the vehicle?

also if theres anything in particular i should be looking for when i view it tomorrow...?

many thanks

Jon

Hi and welcome to the site Thumbs Up wouldn't it of been easier to ask the seller these questions Question
I can help you out with a few of the answers, land rover DON'T make a 22" wheels, they are replica's maybe a landrover design,

The door mirrors don't fold in from the keyfob, only on new models
Insist on a good 12 month warranty LR is the best one out there Thumbs Up
Iphone/bluetooth don't know, someone else will answer that one for you
Price wise, you can always haggle, its a buyers market at the moment. Good luck, others will be along soon to great you and give you some more advice. Thumbs Up

I think this is a good buy if you don't mind a SE spec

1) yes
2) yes although they can also be configured to come on for a set time when you switch the car off
3) no, you need to press a button

Drive it for a good hour to ensure everything works then go and drive another one! Also, for that money you are getting close to TDV8 territory - drive one and you won't want a TDV6 Thumbs Up

I suggest looking on the Autorader to compare prices, that should give you a good indication.
Also, when test driving the car listen out for knocking suspension as its a common fault.
FSH is a must and as said get the best warranty you can, you'll probably need it Big Cry

Hi everybody and thanks for the welcome and tips.

here is a pic of the RRS and it shows the wheels. they have landrover centre caps and when i looked on the main land rover website they have them on there so i assumed they were original alloys from land rover.. i did then see that they were only 20inch and these are 22inch.... are these wheels ok in terms of ride quality and safety? they seem huge to me! Shocked

in regards to the warranty, is it possible for me to go into a local landrover garage and buy a years warranty?

i realise that people do opt for the V8 but im assuming theres less mpg and the insurance is more? hence why im entering at the V6. im sure the V6 is adequate isn't it?

and also one last thing in regards to the knocking supension, if i take it for a test drive today and there is an issue i'll definately hear it yes? or does it just happen over speedbumps etc?

thanks again for the welcome and advice.

Jon Thumbs Up

The knocking you will hear straight away, you hear it more going very slow, also turn the steering wheel left to right in small jolts and you should be able to feel any knock or clonks through the wheel, those wheels are similar to awd's a member off here, he will comment on those later when he shows up Rolling Eyes The ride quality will be fine, unless you are used to driving on 19's previously you won't tell the difference. LR warranty if it doesn't already have an LR warranty i doubt you will be able to get one, but you could always try. Thumbs Up

Looks good for the money chum !

The V6 in 2.7 form is perfectly adequate, the 3.0 is more refined and has more poke, but looking at it from a real world point of view it depends what it's going to be used for and where its being used, try the bluetooth with your iphone, some systems can be pigs, some go without a hitch, everything else........drive it, think of a route with a bit of open road to give it a burn and also some urban areas with bumps/potholes etc that'll show up any horrors. 08 2.7 RRS "S"

Whats your budget? I would think for that price you would get a TDV8 albeit a little older.
