Hi, am i right in understanding that the RRS raises about 55mm from standard height to full off road height,
yet the D3 raises about 100mm?
that will limit my green laning....

Thought they used the same suspension/air bags?
Got throught about 5 pages of the tech forum and saw it went on to 51 pages, so can i ask first rather than paging through them

is the suspension different

or can anything be over ridden?

No, they raise pretty much the same - the D3 figure you are quoting is the height difference between on-road and emergency height, which is the same for the RRS.

I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

The standard off-road clearance for a D3/D4 is approx 240mm; for the RRS it is 225mm; for the RR it is 280mm. These figures are averaged from a number of vehicles of each make.

The "310mm" figure is the maximum height you can attain with a D3/4 (emergency extended height). It's a marketing ploy by LR to quote this figure for the Discovery. Apparently RRS owners don't care.

The difference between the RRS and D4 is only some 15mm, most of that is due to the slightly smaller tyres fitted as standard (12mm smaller radius). If you fit the same tyres as the Disco, you basically have the same height and a better ramp-over angle due to the shorter wheelbase. This makes the RRS slightly more maneuverable off-road than the Disco. However, don't be surprised if on an LRE course, you don't do exactly the same tracks in an RRS as in a D3.

thanks for that it sounded like the D3 would have more clearance, I just could not work out how ?

Like a lot of thinks to do with figures it depends what answer you want first, then use figures that give you that answer

Been for a test drive in a RRS today and while trying the access: standard: then off road, found it only went down to access and back to standard ok but going up to off raod got a message "slow to raise", suspect this is a compressor starting to show a fault, dealer (indep) said he knew there was nothing wrong with it
