In the pub last night a "know it all friend" of mine was telling me that my intentions to put 255/55/R19's (FFRR wheels) on my sport this winter were ridiculous as the gearing/speedo would be all to pot. I'm sure I've seen this done ... or is he right?

255/55/19s used on G4s without issues so shouldn't be an issue (assuming 7 spoke type). Fit D3/4s so hubs shouldn't be an problem, a RRSnort being a D3 in drag!

Thanks DSL, funny enough the 7 spoke wheels with mtr tyres seen on the black disco where the wheels in question.

What about 285/35/22's? He was also going on about them

No idea re 22s, I tend to stick to stock sizes, 17s, 18s & 19s. Loads on here pimp their ride (wheels wise) & will be along sometime with advice on 22s

285/35/22'S will be fine, i run them at the moment and my speedo is spot on with my gps road angel

I fitted 255/55/R19 tyres on the sport without any problems. It actually made the speedo more accurate as normally it reads a few mph over.

My insurance goes up £30 when ive got my 22's on, lets see how much it comes back down in winter when i put my 19's on !!

Remember, the D3 boys need the extra space a Disco has for their Tarmacing tools.  In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Land Rover tyre sizes for RRS are:-

275 40 20, and 255 50 19

LR will use any excuse to get out of paying for any warranty work if they can
255 50 19" tyres make your speedo over read by about 2-3 mph
255 55 19" tyres make the speedo read cock on, so landrover arn't right with their calibration

You can understand liability limitation i think - within reason

Its insurance companies which are the worst with regards to tyre and wheel sizes and not paying/claims.

On calibration I thought over reading was good...its under reading thats bad (or is that the wrong way) over reading eg saying your sped is higher than it is is expected...under reading eg saying you speed lower than it is is illegal Mike
