Fitted the Thule bars at weekend which was easy enough, and have not noticed any additional wind noise as yet. I guess the real test will be with the Thule roof box and bike rack & bike fitted as we head up the M6...

The trip from London to Aberdeen was completed with no issues. Did not notice any additional wind noise on the way up, but on the return it was very windy the entire journey so did notice additional noise. Nothing obtrusive though. Driving with the bars on but no box/bike rack gives no noticeable wind noise even up to 70mph.

Previous trips from London to Aberdeen have seen 18-19mpg each way. Strangely, with the roof bars and luggage we saw 22.1mpg from London to Penrith, and it then dropped a bit for the remainder of the journey; overall 20.4 London to Aberdeen – I think this was due to a more cautious drive (i.e. lower speed). The return journey was a bit lower (18.3mpg) but I think this was related to the wind effect as it was again a steady 70mph.
