MY11 has developed the squeak of all mother Beeping squeaks

Car is going in dealers tomorrow..... Car was parked up at the point to point yesterday, I came back to it today as it was left in field over night due a drink infused day. Started to drive away and all the way home it has squeaked.

Noise is coming from drivers door area, cant be heard from outside so im stumped to what it could be.

Sad Smile

What speed are you going when it happens? My wife's cars rear wheel was squeaking, took it to the garage and it turned out to be a wheel bearing. But if it is that I'd imagine you could hear it from the outside. I may be well off but just a suggestion.

The rear discs are quite good at picking up small stones , I picked one up at Christmas on a drive down to London , was going to phone landrover assist halfway down, then it suddenly stopped. Not had it since , but I've heard it is quite common.

Foxy,

Few questions....

Since you were in a field, it might be moisture (small chance) or...
1 does sound change as you drive
a) in line with wheel rotation speed or
b) with engine revs

2. Does it change if you use the brakes.

if answer (a) could be stone, twig caught in brake disk or brake disc shield.
If (B) could be twig, grass, rope, bridle, horse and rider !!! etc caught in a drive belt ( not too likely)

If sound is some between engine speed and wheel speed you may have trapped a twig etc between a drive shaft or prop shaft and body work.

If answer is number two might be stone in disc.

If none of above try electornic park brake (let car roll slowly in gear (Drive) select nuetral (not park) and switch on park brake. Repeat process in reverse - if this cahnges the sound you've something caight in the park brake system.

Or if nowt else, could it be the Knight you snared and chained to the towbar has lost his amour (amor)!

Hmm it sounds like an old bed stead!!! Only happens over bumps or undulating ground.
Ive checked for any stray suitors or knights in shining armour ( i should be so lucky).... and unfortunately the only thing I found under my car was a full size spare wheel.

It may sound odd but it does sound like its coming from the glass, almost a little "whistley", if a squeak can be described like that !

So my dealer is going to have look at it for me today. I knew a months trouble free motoring was a little too much to ask from LR. Sad Smile

With a bit of luck it may just need a good underbody jet wash to get the fine grit and gravel out of the suspension, transmission and steering components after your little foray Whistle MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.
