Looks a nice hotel Jonny, and I very much doubt they will hit the same spot twice. Still a Censored though!

if it's the restaurant I think it is that is a real shame it was wonderful sitting there on the outside balcony at night watching everything going on in the square.

Balls if I would head out there, can you not cancel on insurance? Why risk it for the sake of a break?

They're now saying it could have been gas explosion. Waiting for full story.

We went for our wedding anniversary a few years ago.
Highlight for me was a 4X4 trip in a Toyota Land Cruiser up into the atlas mountains, they stopped for tea in a Berber village on the way up and authentic meal on the way back.
We ate al fresco in the square with the locals 2 nights ,its a bit worrying at first but after a while I relaxed and started to enjoy myself once I realised it was really safe, there are plain clothed policemen everywhere watching for any harassment so there is very little. You just go from stall to stall sampling all the local delicacies such as lambs heads and brains.
I would really recommend you do get an official guide from the hotel on your first day,we didn't and I regretted it as you do get plagued in the souk with unofficial guides who offer to show you around.
One thing we did which I wouldn't recommend is a visit to the tannery unless you have got a very strong stomach as they soak the leather in urine and the stench is overpowering,if you do go ask the taxi driver to wait as we were in and out within 10 minutes, make sure you buy the bunch of mint offered to go under your nose!!!!
All in all we had a great time so I'm sure you will too, there is so much to see that will amaze you.
The restaurant which has been blown up was the one we ate in overlooking the square which is sad as that was really wonderful but knowing them it might be rebuilt by Monday.
Hope you have a great time.
Edit:
The original reports said it was gas cylinders but hey there could quite easily be a bomb in London tomorrow which worries me slightly because my daughter has just left to go and watch the wedding, wouldn't stop me going. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

You 'll be fine - playing the numbers you'll be safer there than somewhere else without a tag - once tagged the chance of second hit diminishes with attracted attention and security - the riskiest places are those that aren't hit ironically.... These days thats anyones call...

Last i heard it was accident not TT related

Enjoy

It looked like the bomb had just gone off even on Thursday (one week after) Shocked

They had done nothing but put up a bit of a barrier.....presumably still a crime scene?

The square was a lot quieter than usual apparently (understandably)......

I took this photo but didn't want to get too close with a camera to the restaurant, thought it disrespectful

Didn't do much while I was there and I really didn't like the square.....got pestered constantly (probably because there were far less tourists to go around)..... in the side alleys it felt, dark, smelly and dangerous.....

Couldn't wait to get out of there.......

My girlfriend liked it, I hated it......spoke to 2 other couples and both the girls said "liked it, it was a good experience".....both the guys said "hated it"......

even a bomb and dirty dark alleys with annoying beggars/snake chalmers/crap sellers/diseased monkey in shoulder photo men can't put women off shopping!
Laughing
