G4 Roof Spotlights

Well I'm looking at continuing the build on the RRS and want to add the G4 roof mounted spotlights, or at least something similar.

What concerns/ interests me at the moment is the cable routing. I presume some drilling into the roof will be necessary to run the cables to fuses and switches.

Any info, schematics/ pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

Running them in convoluted trunking along the snorkel body (windscreen side) in through the bonnet would be my suggested/recommended route - you can clip the cable to it and place a connectable plug to allow removal.

You could drill the roof (and i know some who have) but from memory thats not how they did it on the G4's Mike

Isn't there a G4 owners club? I've seen them all camping together at the various LR shows in the UK.

Perhaps find one the members via their website with a G4 RRS and ask him/her?

The cables are routed alongside the windscreen under the plastic pillar cover, through a small cutout in the end of the roofrail trim, under the trim to the first blanking hole, through that hole and into the plastic end trim of the roofrack mounting rail, from there they pop out through a drilled hole onto the rack.

This is the rail on mine, with the drilled hole where the cable exits visible. I have the cable hidden inside the roofrail when the rack / lights are off the car.
