Ordered a new RRS and the dealer has now decided without my consent to add to the order a Supaguard treatment at a cost of £475.00 + vat total £570.00 !!

Is this treatment worth the money or are there cheaper alternatives available..

I think I will tell the dealer he's having a and cancel the treatment...
Any thoughts?

I actually got it done but then it only cost me £249 inclusive of VAT so I felt it was worth it. Had it on my last car and it seemed to do the trick. 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic, Corris Grey with contrast Santorini Black Panoramic Roof, lunar interior, privacy glass, upgraded Meridian system, cooled 18 way front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive xenons, large screen wash bottle.

Gone: 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black, Ivory/Lunar interior, grand black lacquer finish, HK Logic 7.1 Surround, Privacy Glass, Adaptive Xenons, heated steering wheel.

Gone: Jaguar XF Luxury, Pearl Grey, Dove Interior

Whatever you do, don't buy yourself a sponge, shampoo and a leather - please!

The treatment is not worth the money - in a days work, you can buy yourself £60 worth of products and do a similar thing yourself - snow foam, two bucket clean, polish and wax - and a good wax will last you 6 months or more - pretty much they same kinda treatment these guys do.

Don't let them charge you for it, and if you get it free, then great.....

Protect your investment and get to know how to properly clean your car, as it reflects it when selling it on....

Ive read some much on how it's not worth it, it will be removed if you go through a car wash, they say ot can also be removed just by washing up liquid. So if you ever went to a drive in hand wash, the extra strong chemical they use might do the same.....

There are people out there who offer paint protection details, they give the car a very good clean and they poloish and protect the paint to your budget, some offer supaguard also, but I bet they would take more time over doing it, pay more attention to how the car is prepared and more time putting it on, were as the guy at the garage will have another 30 cars to get through that day

Not saying all garages are going to be like that, but look at your options first

I agree with Nick a total waste of money

If you want to put a sealer on once the car has been detailed there are plenty of Acrylic sealers out there you can buy at £25 and upwards but i would use a good wax from Swissvax ,DoDo, etc ( not the crap at halfords ) one coat in the spring and another prep before the winter you are done.

PS i still think Swissvax are doing some of the best wax but there prices now are getting crazy , Dodo and some others are far cheaper but do not quite give the finish or last as long , you do not have to use a Carnuba wax there are some other alternatives just depending on how good a finish and how long you want it to last. Deff stick with the Snow foam and two buckets if you are into looking after the finish on your car. 2014 5.0SC AB

Swissvax is a great product, but as you say, a lot of money, but worth it if you can afford it.

Two alternatives are Colly 476 (is probably the most tried and tested wax there is out there, and npinks got me onto it, and on my Z4, has laready last 5 months and still looks fresh on) or try Dodo Supernatural - a £15 sample put could easily do your car twice - just top it up with a good detailer, like Dodo Red Mist - and it will look great.

I will say that you can never protect your car from swirling, it will always happens, even us guys that detail our cars have it - unless you want to machine polish your car every few months.

I was at a dealers not long ago, and they were prepping a new £80,000 car for the owner on collection - under the white tube lights, the car already had swirls on it. Some people I know have a detailer go in to the dealers to prep their cars before picking them up.

Let us know what the dealer says....

Swissvax Shield is not to expensive, ok if you are not after a show type finish and lasts well with the PTFE added in by them , have used on a couple of my Rangey's and lasts a good 6 months or so a pot is about £95 and will do a full size car about 7-8 times good for the winter salt and crap issues.

All of my cars get sorted and it always pays you back when you sell but also gives you a smile factor when it is washed and looks better than a showroom or off the line car .

Nick have you played with Citrus Bling use it on my Race cars to remove rubber strikes etc in neat form but i hear that a lot of detailers are using it watered down 8-1 and more as a quick finish on road cars similar to red mist 2014 5.0SC AB

Thanks for the advice, am on Elite's website now just ordering some more products....

You're right about seeing your car looking good - especially in the summer, in the evenings, blacj can shine like nothing else if you have that black wet look....with the bright lights on the car - nothing like it. Have now got a white Z4, and the only product is Poorboys - who do a light colour polish - so going to try that.

My next additional car will be black though, and will make sure this time if it is pre-owned - it's in top condition. Never used to be into detailing - washing the cars lots yes, but not applying any science to it. When my cars going into the dealers for work, they are shocked when I tell them not to wash the car afterwards

Hate doing wheels the most, but Billberry is always good and does most of the work for me..

You must have a lot of work to do on your cars...!!

Just on a side note, have changed BMW dealers in London, and went to their service centre in west london, which they also house Rolls, Lambo and Bugatti there - saw a RR Drophead - the RR logo caps on the wheels, don't rotate, ie they are free spinning, so the RR logo is always the right way up....and saw a purple Bugatti, but the RR was much better

I am lucky to be getting a new FFRR in Santorini on Tuesday , my detailer is doing a prep on that do it from new saves so many hassles afterwards , always amazes me just how much crap comes off a new car. My first Black Range Rover !

You will love it in black...I know it's common, but when clean, nothing comes close. Now if I had £225,000 for that RR Drophead....I'd be in cleaning heaven

yup the 4.4, had one on loan for 3 weeks it is a fantastic combination with the 8 speed box must be honest i think my sport will be going, still a better looking car in many ways but the FFRR with the above is in a different class both in the cabin and the way it drives adding the active dynamic suspension to the big one has made it drive almost like a Sport. 2014 5.0SC AB
