Viewing a car this weekend

The car is up for 35k and i have a trade in worth around the 14k mark, the balance will be cash, no finance.
I always haggle, can't remember the last time i paid screen price, however, with the recent weather have i lost any chance of a discount.
Anyone bought a rrs recently if so, what sort of money off the screen price was achieved.
I'm inclined to offer 34k.......
Any thoughts welcome.
Nik.

Best bet is to negotiate, and keep walking away until you're happy with the deal. If when you walk away each time you get as far as your car before they call you back into the showroom then you know you've pushed them as far as they will go.

In that instance, if you're happy with the price and happy with the car then buy it!

Simple!

More details....
2008 RRS 2.7HSE, 25k miles, Stornaway grey, 20" wheels & fsh.
The negatives to the car are no rear tints and no side steps, both of which i will have to sort out maybe as part of the deal.
Car is in a main dealer.
Nik.

Are the running costs significantly higher than the V6?

Yes, but not by a massive amount.

I've had both and I'd would rather have less miles on the odometer (like the one your in for) than have the bigger engine.

I would rather a V8 over a V6 any day of the week. As mentioned at 35K you will get a nice V8.

Nik, I don't think that car is worth more than £31k because there's too many sub 40k miles 2.7s out there on an 08 or 58. But really it's the price to change you need, right? If the £35k RRS gives you more for yours, which I expect they will, then you're all square. What would concern me more is after-market tinting, you need to make sure that is VERY professionally done methinks.

But regards your original question, the weather will affect the price, but perhaps mainly because the dealer will have more ammunition to throw at you. So to combat that I would prepare lots of market data, for example, notes from Autotrader on similar spec vehicles available and their asking prices?

Good luck, sounds exciting! Stornoway is a great colour. Thumbs Up L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Hi Nik,

I have a TDV8 with 37500 miles on it on a 57 plate (MY08) for sale in the colour you want with side steps but no tints for £33500.

Have a look in the for sale section.

Sorry, I don't do PX though but you could try Pistonheads. My new vehicle does not arrive until 1st March 2011 so sure we could come to some arrangement Question "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.
