Almost made my mind up now to go for a 2008/9 V8 HSE in late February when mine goes back, could anybody just clarify how much it would cost to extend the LR warranty for another year after the 3 years runs out?

I've heard good reports about www.warrantydirect.co.uk - we had one on my wife's L200 but never had to make a claim, so I can't comment personally. Worth getting a quote at least. I should imagine it will be a lot cheaper than Land Rover's official offering. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis.

That's interesting. They were a load cheaper than the Mitsubishi extended warranty for my wife's 3 year old L200. I'm planning to keep my RRS for 4 years, so I'll be shopping around in a couple of years time to get a warranty to cover the 4th year. 14.5MY SDV6 HSE Dynamic Indus silver/lunar/ebony 20" wheels, InControl, full-size spare, electric tow bar, adaptive xenons, adaptive cruise control, auto main beam assist. Gone: TDV8 HSE; Zermatt silver/ebony, 19" off road alloys, active diff, particle filter, tow pack (it was fun) BMW 730D SE (great car, sadly missed). Ford Focus RS mk2, Ultimate green, lux pack 2, bluetooth. The start of my mid-life crisis. IN THE GARAGE: BMW i8 - the mid-life crisis continues and it's great fun. |

Warranty Wise are pretty good also, but i cannot help but think....and this is what i do with my M3 is the price of the policy, in the M3's instance £890 just bank it and should the worst happen then the money is there to pick up the tab rather than paying £890 a year incase something were to happen. The alternator on my M3 went, total cost from BMW supply and fit was £1200, total cost to Repair sourcing OEM parts and fit myself was £160. Total cost for supply and fit at BMW Indy - £210. These warranties once you look into them are not sometimes all they are cracked up to be. For instance, should you choose to pay for your warranty in installments on the monthly plan then any repair required will be deducted from the total outstanding balance of your warranty. This was explained to me by the people at warranty wise when i enquired about it. |
