Right......I am looking to order a new car this side of Christmas for a March 1st delivery.......I have got too used to the space the RRS offers so thoughts of a 2 seater have gone out the window.....

After lots of research I have whittled my shortlist down to 3, given the nature of this website I am expecting bias but please put your equal opportunities hat on.

My choices are based on a combination of price and company car tax, the FFRR has been written out of the equation due to the outrageous company car tax.

1. RRS S/C with options comes to £70k
2. Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid with options comes to £72k but would save me about £300 a month in car tax
3. Audi Q7 4.2d specced to £70k but with a fat discount as my friend is sales manager....

I am only really considering option 3 because of the potential discount which tells me it shouldn't really be on the list....

.any comments/thoughts?

In my eyes you can not compare a RRS with the other two cars, or any SUV that is.

But if you realy want to change from an RRS, my personal only other option would be:

Very nice, but not quite the performances of the porsche but nicer on the eye and very good all rounder
2. Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid with options comes to £72k but would save me about £300 a month in car tax
Amazing handling, more of a sports car but can you live with the looks?
3. Audi Q7 4.2d specced to £70k but with a fat discount as my friend is sales manager....
VMight as well buy a old A6 as the inside is the same and ugly and has a small boot! They do go well though!


Either one or two are the real option in my opinion

3. Audi Q7 4.2d specced to £70k but with a fat discount as my friend is sales manager.... - superb engine, but you have to question that price, even with discount, far too much for what it is.

The downside of all the German cars is that the interiors are just uplifted car versions to some degree, with a Range Rover, its designed for the car, big switches, chunky fittings and a driving position that remains unequalled.

45 others have been and gone!

Same dilema as i had when i bought my RRS although with used models as my budget gets no where near £70k

However, i still think there is no other car to beat the RRS as an all round performer. The Audi is not a great car (brother in law works for them and he refuses to own one - tells me all i need to know) and the porsche just does not feel like it should be in the 4x4 market.

Personal taste will come into this i am sure. I guess company car so maybe not an issue, but if i had £70k. I would be spending £50k on a RRS new style model and the remaining on an old 911 or something with some fun

agreed, the cayenne looks stunning, but it is now the size of a tiguan!!, how else did they shave about half a ton from it! tough call, as i would have any of your choices, although both Q5 and RRS must be near the end of their current shape

Being from Aberdeen I'd have the Porsche on the grounds of saving 300 quid a month alone!!!  Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

But the Porsche looks nicer inside from the photos on autoexpress

With the £300 a month save on CCTax it's the financial sense one for me, but I suppose if your spending £70k on a car £300 is sort of neither here or there

I'd opt for the Panamera...is a beautiful car, and big too, and one of best cabins around....

To be honest I am leaning towards the Porsche.....mostly because I want a change, but I still haven't seen it in the flesh......going to look this weekend.
