Thanks for all the info guys, as Autoglass are quoting £800+ for a new screen before the labour i'm loathed to let the dealer get it done for £300, sounds too much like I'd get a crap job done to me. I'll just have to argue it out with the dealer some more.
Good choice, Autoglass did fine job twice on mine for similar money, worth the piece of mind

I have a similar problem as Jonathan, having a large , repaired chip which on my screen is just out of the line of sight, however about 3 weeks ago I suffered the misfortune of getting another chip that is smaller than the first one so will take the car in and have a new screen fitted. I posted when the first chip happened that, that as the car was less than 12 months old at the time, Autoglass advised against replacing the screen and to do the repair.

Finally after my windscreen being badly cracked in January nearky 4 weeks ago - Autoglass are installing a new one as we speak!
That piece of glass for the MY10 RRS has been on back order from the factory - I've just been quietly thinking that if the car was unusable & I didn't have another to drive - I'd have been royally screwed!!!
I'm just praying that the Auto Dip Headlights function works once the new piece of glass is in - although the installer does seem very competent from what I can tel......................
I have a crack spreading across my windscreen at the moment. I hope it won't take 4 weeks to get fixed as I need the car! Will have to phone around in the morning.

Hi - phoned my insurance last Monday regarding a chip in my windscreen - Autoglass called to my house on the Wednesday with a spare screen incase they could not repair the chip - New screen fitted - Excellent job with not a mark on my car, even fitted new black covers either side of the screen. Cost £60 excess - Outstanding job - Cheers Mark.
