New car advice please

I may be in a good place in the new year to be able to afford 2 new cars with a budget of about 100 ish.....I have some ideas about what I might like...but some help/opinions would be good. Ok must say that I prefer to buy pre owned....

1. Second hand 3.0 RRS and a Merc 280 SL Pagoda

2. Aston Martin Vantage Roadster and RRS (as before)

3. BMW M3 Convertible and RRS

4. Merc SL500 (new shape) and RRS

As you can tell a convertible and RRS is on the list (and a white RRS at that)

Any other thoughts? Cars I may have missed.....
Thumbs Up

Check out new Merc SL Night vision... quite nice. Although M3 is a very beautiful car, I think it is becoming a little overused. Vadim A.

Your more specific requirements are needed... Such as, how old do you want the convertible to be, is it a weekender, or daily runner... This will flow through into driving your running costs budget: insurance, maintenance etc etc..

I'm not into UK prices these days... However, if its a weekender, maybe you can consider an 'older' Ferrari if they tickle your boat... maybe even as new as a 360?

Or of course for reliability (if more of a daily drive) you could look at a porker... a newer 911 CAB 4S, or an older (996) turbo Cab??

Don't fancy a Ferrari or a Porsche, although I do like the Targa..but too expensive.

I was in BMW dealers the other day and they had an M3 in a silver grey that was a Matt paint, it looked like it was wrapped but wasn't. It also had black wheels, but crazy money at 60K.

I used to have a Merc Pagoda when I was younger and loved it, and thought it would be a great weekend car to go away with, driving to Italy or France...love the idea of that.

The RRS would be an everyday car and the other just at weekends and I guess the split on cost would be early 40's for the RRS and 60k for the other.

The Vantage worries me re reliability....and also the costs. In addition I want the sports shift model, as I don't want a manual, and they are more expensive. And DB9's look a little old to me, in my opinion anyway.

Thanks guys Thumbs Up

My heart would say n.2 but my head n.1 With tn.1 you cant go wrong, a classic car which if looked after can only go up in value. I did a similar thing with my bmw, mine is a limited edition, so far lost 25% of what I paid in 5 years of ownership and if it continues as it it is, I might have lost less!! RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,

Nick for your weekend car have you thought about a Jaguar XK drophead - they are all autos and you know the local dealership...................... and for your 60k you would get a very recent car. OR if it has to be a classic then what about a white Triumph Stag, which would probably be tax exempt too! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Nick, I know of a beautiful Alfa Romeo spider from 1973 Whistle

But on a serious note, classic cars is a very interesting route, the SL's are good investments although the prices in recent times have gone up so quickly that they may stagnate for a few years, though this it true for most of the classic car market as people seem to have invested their money more in classics than banks, I wonder why Confused

If your looking for classic convertibles, you have a range of english cars, MGA's are nice, simple and reliable, I know your not fond of Jags but the XK-120 or XK-150 are amazing cars or if you want a bit more modern there are the E-types.

If you can find one for the budget, why not a classic Aston...... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1941354.htm

or a Austin Healey 3000m ..... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1769057.htm RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,

Looked at V8 Vantage too....the 70's type...

I would love a Lambo, but that's just a fantasy..and not sure I could handle a manual Gallardo.....and reliability scares the crap out me as well as running costs.....

The lambos i.e. Gallardo are reasonably reliable and many specialist in the UK have reasonable pricing for servicing, but word is to stay away from the manual version especially the early models as they were very hungry for clutches...

On the modern cars there is also the beautiful Maserati Granturismo Razz Not personally a fan but what about the Bentley continental GT, RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,
