Who the frick said people don't work hard? Read my post again before you have a pop mate.

You think we are not snobby? Hop over to FFRR and do a pole to see how many owners, other than Tim, Angel or Purple think that RRS are proper Range Rovers.

We will of course think that Evoque isn't appropriate for RR, bit if they sold it as a LR it wouldn't sell as well...

Ive read it numerous times and your statement that we are all snobs is the bit that i find grinding unless you are trying to say something different, if that is the case then i am missing your point Exclamation

We are snobby about the Evoque and that it's a Range Rover and that as a 2WD we don't feel it's a proper RR and will dilute the name...hence why we are looking down at al. I'm trying to say shouldn't be snobby and that the car is a good thing...has absolutely nothing to do with what we earn or how hard we work mate......

Next worst thing, to make a better example is if they came out with a 20k hot hatch called a Range Rover.....that's almost what some people feel they may be doing. And maybe the point in my eyes has some validity. If I bought a 50k car and then all pf a sudden they did a cheaper version made of plastic at 35k....I'd be pert Censored off...

Now go and support a better team mate and take that nasty football shirt off! Laughing

i dont see what all the fuss is about, it doesnt bother me that the RRS is a discovery in drag, so it doesnt bother me that landrover is bringing out another model in the range . i originally went to my dealer to buy a freelander, which is a very capable car, but was swayed by the interior of the new rrs and how "afordable" it was compared to a fully loaded freelander. i have no desire to get a FFLR, so it doesent bother me that mine is seen as inferior, if i was going to spend 60k on a new car i would go for a 911 or similar. i am sure buyers of x5s and 6s are not in the slightest bit annoyed that bmw also make a 1 series! at the end of the day, if landrover cant keep up and sell cars, ie cheaper models then they will not have the money to develop the top end versions. i wont be putting down an order for an evoke , as there are other cars i would want in my drive, and to have two big cars doesnt make sense (wifes car is a cooper, which is fine for going to work and bloody fun too!)

cheers

as long as they don't do an 'X-Type' to the brand Crying or Very sad, we'll all be ok. But we already have the Freelander, so the Ewox will rule the world.

I think that LR can stick whatever badge on it they like. If it's going to be a RR rather than an LR then they will simply ensure that it is spec'd more for comfort & luxury rather than rugged practicality, so I think it's fine for it to be a Range Rover. My issue (and it is only an opinion) is that VB is the wrong "level" of celeb to be marketing it .... her credibility is, lets be honest here, not exactly of the highest level & she is more defined by an image of a well off Chav than a sophisticat. If for example LR had managed to get, lets say, Angelina Jolie, then I think that would be a closer match to the image that "evoque" customers would want to identify with. But, hey, I'm a fat forty something RRS owner..... so I'm probably not qualified to even have an opinion! Big Cry Whistle 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

The Evoque is to the range rover what a boxster is to a 911.

But it doesn't take anything away from the 911.

So no problem.

If anyone really believes that a £30k car (read that again, 30K thats still a Censored lot of money) is going to dilute the brand name of RR as it will be associated with the £70k model then we really have issues on these forums. Look at what the boxster did for porsche, it put un told sums of cash into a very dry pot and basically took the car company from collapse to world domination. The cayenne was hideous yet because porsche was suddenly mega popular again it sold in its thousands.

i hope that the Evoque is another stunning smaller but equally as safe family car, that I can buy for my wife as our second car safe in the knowledge that children will be safe but not being sworn at when she drops the children off at school.

New models = new technology = better cars for everyone
