Well as I half suspected - the knocking has been gradually returning - and I pointed this out to the Dealer when the vehicle went in for its 45,000 mile (post warranty expiry) service. Got a call today to say the vehicle needs :

New discs and pads all around
New wipers all around
Change of brake fluid
Wheel balancing
New front tyre due to damage etc etc...
and - wait for it - new front bushes to cure the knocking.

I told them all ok to fix but I was if I was going to pay for the new bushes. I reminded the dealer that they replaced every possible bush, bearing, ball joint and jangle pin at the front end only 4 months ago to cure the knocking and that I had told them that if anything else knocking related needed replacing in the next 2 years I would claim it was a warranty job for a problem they clearly hadn't properly fixed under warranty itself. They even tried (briefly) to suugest that bushes wearing out after 4 months was normal wear and tear. I told them (quite clearly) what I thought of that suggestion. They got the message and "went quietly". Mind you, I suspect I will need to remortgage to pay this service cost anyway ! RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Smart, sorry to hear of your woes....and yes the work will cost nearl 2K I'm sure, but remember - used prices are doing very well, jump ship and nobody would blame you - and perhaps put the 2K towards another car....and see what you're offered out there.....
