Wanted.... LR S1/2/3 truck cab

I am looking for an old series I,II,III truck cab thats a runner for around £250 - £500.

I want it to put logs in when i need to collect them as i cant bring myself to put them in the RRSport......

As long as its a runner i dont care what it looks like....

Worzel - don't do it. Any Series vehicle at that price would be a money pit, death trap with a chassis made of papier mache and a bulkhead of cinder toffee.

I suggest you look for an early 200tdi Discovery with 6 months MOT. You can pick these up for under £1,000 now and you get a lot of car for your money. The chassis are generally very solid, the Tdi engines almost unburstable and they actually drive quite well. You can throw tons of logs in the back with the rear seats folded down or taken out. Spare parts are cheap as chips and they even offroad very well (permanent 4 wheel drive and manual diff locks).

Just check the engine hasn't got a duff cylinder head (usually can tell as lots of white smoke) or that the rear load space floor (under the carpets) isn't totally rusted through. Mileage isn't an issue as most will be around 200k miles at this age.

A mate of mine recently sold an R Reg 300tdi Discovery with leather seats and a good runner and good looker for £1,300 at an auction! It had a dent in the rear quater and needed a new swivel housing - both fixable for £150. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

If you don't mind getting the outside of your RRS dirty then you could get one of those weird looking Erde trailers from Halfrauds (if you have the tow bar and electrics already installed on the Sport that is!).

and
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_165535
Interesting - Made in France and Germany, assembled in Australia and retailed in the UK - they fairly clock up a few miles getting onto a Halfrauds forecourt! Still keeps me in a job carting them around the world between maker/ assembler and retailer! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Old Discos are great for carrying logs using the public highway

Old Series Landrovers are good for storing logs and if your lucky (and a good mechanic) they might even move said logs, but it will be too expensive to get and keep an MOT to keep them road legal

An example of a "cheap" Disco quite close to you is here :

Bet they would take £500 cash.

Bobby - Is that in the Cameron Highlands ? I visited there quite a few years ago and there appeared to be more Land Rovers than people in some places. Not many looked like they would get through a UK MOT though and there were some fascinating "fixes" and modifications being used to keep the vehicles working. Most of the vehicles looked like they had hit every tree in the place in 25 years of very hard labour.

A couple of examples :

This is my shed / tip-run / log carrier and DIY store vehicle. I have even more restriction on getting cars dirty as they need to be spotlessly clean the next day for demonstrations! I also had an Erde 127 trailer but you couldn't even see it behing the RRS!
