I'm not fussed about 911s either... I respect them for what they are (great cars, totally iconic etc), but must admit I wouldn't spend money on one, there's plenty above it in the list.

I've had Porsche 911s for 8 years before I bought my RRS (hence the choice of the S/C) and have to admit there is nothing at the price that compares in terms of sheer driver involvement on one hand and practicality as a daily driver on the other.

However, the brand has been seriously diluted since the advent of water-cooled 996 / 997, reliability and residuals have gone through the floor, and they are no longer exclusive or particularly 'special' IMO (except for the GT and RS versions).

The last straw for me was the thing starting to fall apart due to the state of our roads (especially after the harsh spell in Feb): I reckon I can drive just as quickly in my RRS, if not faster, for most journeys on real roads in real weather and traffic conditions. (and I quite like the fact that this surprises a lot of people... )
