Just seen this thread................70mph, there are parts of the autobahn whereby if you are in the central lane doing that speed, the coppers will pull you over and fine you for going to slowly!!!!!

If you get caught more that 20% over the speed limit in a village then you will be looking at a mandatory 1 month ban with about a 400-500 euro fine.

2nd time just double the above

3rd time, licence is gone, you have to attend physciatric assessment, re-sit your written test and go on a load of practical driving lessons before being told whether you need to retake your practical test again

The police over here though, do pull people for doing stupid things like lane sitting and causing a queue, tail-gating, cutting people up, driving over cautiously etc etc, unlike the useless UK police that only pull people for breaking the speed limit no matter.

That's a much more sensible approach... driving to and from work on the M25 every morning makes me angry just because of idiots that sit in the middle lane at 65 and then you have someone who goes to overtake them but won't actually go over 70 so it takes them ages to get past and causes a big ripple effect back through all the following traffic so we all have to slow down to 40.... ridiculous!

There was good documentary on the police out here. Bloke sitting in outside lane causing a queue doing 130kmh gets pulled over. Copper says why are you doing 130kmh in the outside lane. Bloke says "that is the speed limit here officer". Copper asks if the bloke is a fellow copper to which the reply is "no". Copper says "policing is my job not yours, 2 points on your licence 100euro fine to be paid now, yes we have credit card facilities!!!"

Another middle lane sitter, when pulled over and asked as to why he was in the middle lane explained "I always drive in the middle lane"
Officer gives him 3 points and 200 euros (a little more harsh for complete and utter stupidity, I felt)
