Looking at this setup on ebay for £250, 320gb HD RECORDER, 4 x IR cameras, wouldn't mind some feedback on it

Somebody scratch my car again, whilst parked on my driveway I know they won't stop it, but at least i could see who did it and maybe get somewhere if it happens again. Also added security for the house/garage, which we had the latter broken into just over a year ago

it looks good enough , dont forget you need to budget in the duty and VAT.

I'd be more worried about warranty if you have to send stuff back to HK.

Macro have a 4 cam system on special for £450 , in todays macro catalogue.
basically same , night vision , movement activated , hd recorder and you can play your face if it doesnt work right.

I have looked at the page and have sent them a email on the Network DVR system with upgrade HD and 3 cameras.

I wanted to know if i can just view live feed or the recorded images too, plan is to leave it in my loft, recording all the time or on motion detection and use network/internet to view and download things if required.

They say this system comes with the camera at the top of the list

To be honest i haven't a clue what the different spec is compared to that and the more expensive

The front of my house, where the cars a mainly park is quite well lit, with the new street light, which is a bright white light, not the old orange glowing one.

Down the side of my house is lit via my neighbours PIR flood light too

make sure you get a LAN enabled DVR - then all you need is a static ip or use a dynamic dns (www.dyndns.com) to view it over the net.

love this forum. I was just about to start googling this stuff after some food. Im after the same thing. Dont really need amazing quality as its for the business premises not my drive. Just need to view it via the net! (saves me having to keep going down).

VW - if you just need live access then a network camera would suffice for you - the Vivotek stuff is very good

wow did not even realise you can just get a camera on its own. Seems to work out more cost effective getting the 4 camera set with the dvr. VW - they are very easy to configure

basically;

connect the ip camera to your router (via short patch lead normally supplied)
load software onto your pc
the software will then search your network and find the ip camera
voila - done
you can then play with the camera settings

once configured you can move the camera to wherever its going and run a cat5 cable from the location back to your router or if its a wireless camera then setup the wifi connections so no need for a cable back to your router

all the cameras need power (normall 12V) however some are POE (Power over Ethernet) which can be handy.
