Just got my 20's back from re-furbing but while we still have the threat of -12c tonight and snow at the end of the week I'll be keeping the 19's on the car for a while yet. So how to store the 20's - on the flat on some old carpet, or on the roll. The 19's have spent 15 months stored on the flat with carpet between the wheels and don't seem to have suffered any harm.BTW they are inside a garage so UV degrading of the rubber isn't a problem 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have my 20" wheels on the flat with old carpet between them bottom one sitting on an off-cut of plywood. They are in a corner of the garage, that way they dont take up much room, probably won't be until march that I change them back on to the car. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

on the flat sounds fine to me, with carpet spacers

if the garage is cold or damp, maybe a layer or two of alloy wheel sealant as a barrier against the elements

they guy who is valeting our cars has the wheels i don't have an idea how they are stocked...

Lay them flat seems to be the norm. Being Swiss we wrap the wheels individually in bags then stack them. Can't be getting our hands dirty!

Hope those are re-usable, biodgradable plastic bags made from recycled PEL drinks bottles Swiss Got to minimise the environmental impact of the RRS haven't we....................

Reusable of course. Made from Hemp so that they don't trap moisture. And when you've finished with them you smoke them!!

while on this topic. What would people reccomend as a cleaner/sealer for the factory rims? While the sets off the car might aswell give it some protection before they go on. WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

Took mine to the local valet company who also refurb wheels. Although only 3 were kerbed (don't know how I managed not to get the rear nearside kerbed too ) they wanted all 4 so they could polish the 4th to match the other 3. Job consisted of removing the tyres, washing the wheels to remove salt and crud, acid wash, build up the bad bits, paint to match, sealing the wheels (appeared to use industrial strength cling film as I went into the workshop to see when the wheels would be ready and the techie was working on my rims at the time and they were just being loaded into a machine for baking or curing. Cost me £250 for the 4 and they look like new. The techie told me that he refurbs more RRS factory 10 spoke alloys and OF Tigers from FFRRs than any other designs of wheels! Maybe it's time LR had a rethink about the designs and made them less prone to damage. I also got them back rebalanced and inflated to the right pressures and they marked them on the inside which are the fronts and which are the backs to (I took the wheels in loose so they must just be going on the pressures they re-inflated them to)
I will no doubt be returning to them too
