Well I got my car back this afternoon after its PS3 install.

Basically they fitted a PS3 under the centre rear seat, a pair of Alpine 7" headrest mounted monitors & a pair of Alpine wireless headphones plus the special power inverter required for the PS3 for £750.

I got a new PS3 for £350 so the lot has only cost £1100 which allows me to play PS2/3 games plus DVD/Blue ray discs.

Well impressed, could have been even cheaper if I had picked up a second hand PS3 or a new one with a smaller hard drive I guess.

Pelyma is right. HD, BR, all of them do not look any different on any screen size smaller than 36", not that anyone could spot anyway. RRS TDV8, black with ivory.

To be fair, the main reason for fitting this system is for the games..... the beauty with the PS3 is that you play both the PS2/PS3 format discs and the 160GB HD allows a certain amount of games to be downloaded onto the system to save messing with discs while driving along.

I really doubt the blue ray will look any different than DVD on such small screens but at least the system allows more than one available media, if I had simply fitted a DVD or even a PS2 it would have severely limited my sons choice of content available.

Another plus side to the PS3 is the wireless bluetooth controllers, together with the wireless headsets it makes the most perfect system available.

The Alpine system also has the capacity for two more input signals so I could include a TV tuner at a later stage.

I just need to get my head round systems that connect to the front monitor so I could interface the PS3 setup to my satnav screen, ideal for future projects when the TV system is up and running.

Anyway my lad is one happy boy so....................... sucess!!!!!!!! Thumbs Up

I might have caused a little confusion...sorry Bow down

You can buy games from the playstation store and the downloaded game is storred on your hard drive to play without messing with discs.

Saying that I bet there are probably ways to store downloaded games on the HD.... I will look into it and get back to you, I can't see why not since it uses a similar operating system to the PSP and you can get fixes to allow downloaded games to be stored, included copied games...

I had a mess with mine today and moved the PS3 further fowards and then cut a section of the front underseat trim away which allows easy access to swap discs when required.

I meant to take some photos but forgot, will try harder tomorrow with any luck.

Daz just found this

Quote:
No, you cannot store games on your PS3 hard drive. You can load demos on it, but not complete games. This is done to enforce anti-piracy laws.

Some games may have an installation feature that will help them run faster, but they will still need the disc to run. (I'm not sure if we already have these, or if they will come in the future.)

Maybe theres a hack out? then again i don't want to mess about with all that lot

Oh well Blu ray's it is
