Knocking in gearbox from the gearknob piece

Ive been experiencing a knock like a tracktrack noise when shifting from P TO R TO N TO DRIVE mode it sounds like its from the gear knob and the elevated plastic base of the shifter, im assuming its the lock of the brake and the gearbox
anyone experienced this before? please advise THX

Normal.

It's the lock to stop you ramming the gearbox into drive say when rolling backwards a little.

The knock (or click) happens when pushing the brake pedal.

Could it be that? 2022 P440e AB

the knock (the sound that comes out) seems harsh not like a soft sound its like your pulling it through i have the brake stop thing in my 5series and its so smooth. Not sure the sound is like ur pulling it feels like something is stuck!

If the knock is there when you step on the brakes then its ilke Paolo said - its the solenoid working to release the gear lever. If its too harsh or loud you might want to get it checked. I think MDP had some problems with this. Malaysia Boleh!
