I can't believe I'm the first to raise this one, what are the views on the Tax increase on (effectively 4x4’s) today?

Personally forty quid doesn’t bother me at all, given the laugh we had in Salisbury last weekend I would have gladly paid another £100 but that’s not the point. A$$4@les like our Mr Sunpower will be partly satisfied by such cretinism, now that makes me sick.  11 XFR

If they want to encourage GREEN cars then why don't they look at the greenest cars available to mankind and make them totally VAT FREE ............

What really annoys me about this whole increase thing, is how the media (complete s that they are) keep banging on about how it's a tax against 4x4s!!! As we all know it's a tax against cars that have CO2 emissions above a particular threshold! Some 4x4s are caught by this, but plenty more luxury saloons and sports cars are also caught by it too. But do they mention that in their coverage? No, they just have buckets of footage of mums in their 4x4s taking kids to school.... It does wind me up this. The only sensible viewpoint was from that bloke from the SMMT that's been doing interviews - he's been trying to stress the point that it's not just 4x4s that are being caught by this and that for those people who will spend 40k on a car, another £40 a year on VED isn't going to stop or change anything.

Anyway, we know all this... nurse, the oxygen!!!
