Hi Guys,
I'm still around, but I've been extremely busy at work and on the Cobra, although I have looked in on here from time to time.
here are a few pictures of the Cobra. They were taken at the Le Mans Classic in July. I managed to get it on the road just in time and that was its first major run.

I'm pleased to report it ran perfectly for the whole trip, in spite of torrential rain all the way there:

I've driven about 2,000 miles in it over the summer and I've just taken it off the road to do some of teh cosmetic jobs that I didn't have time to do before going to Le Mans.

I've still got the RRS TDV8 and I'm still enjoying it. Apart from a faulty rear screen wiper, I haven't had any other issues with it and that was the only time it has been back to the dealer so far. I was hoping residuals would be as strong on teh TDV8 as they were on the previous TDV6, but I suspect they've taken a real hammering lately.

Best regards,

The Cobra is huge fun to drive and blisteringly quick. 0-60mph takes about 3.5 seconds when you can avoid wheelspin. It is also very loud. I had an invite to the Octane track day at Goodwood in October, but there was a 105 dB noise limit, so I had to get the Cobra tested. Unfortunately, it measured 120dB, which is much, much louder than 105 because a 3 point increase equates to a doubling of noise energy on the dB scale.
I know of a couple of unrestricted track days and one of them is at Donnington, so I'll try to get on one of those next summer.
Economy isn't one of its strong points though. Having said that, I don't think it is much worse than an RRS S/C, given that I got about 15mpg out of it going to Le Mans and back.
I had an in-field car pass for Le Mans, which was great fun and a fantastic pose. Embarassed I was also supposed to be on one of teh parade lap sessions, but the ACO cocked up the entries and by the time the error was noticed, it was too late.
My wife has just bought me an Irvin flying jacket and flying helmet (http://www.flying-jacket.com/jacket-category.aspx?id=1) to keep me warm while driving on those crisp spring mornings. Thumbs Up

As I intend to have some serious fun in it, I've replaced the original tubular suspension with some rather trick, adjustable ali components and uprated brakes. But I haven't changed any of the mounting points, so the original items can go straight back on if necessary.
This is the front suspension:

..and here is a picture of the freshly rebuilt engine having just been delivered before being installed again.

I've been treating it with huge respect out on the road and I'm slowley learning what it can do as it could bite me very seriously if I took any liberties. Wink
