Hi guys,

I have a collection of old “Video8” tapes, that were shot back in the late 80’s early 90’s on a Sony camcorder, that I’d like to view and/or save on disc. More from curiosity to see what’s on them, than anything else.

So I’m looking for an old Video8 camcorder or compatible “Digital8” camcorder.

Initial research has shown that both the Sony DCR TRV230E & TRV-828E “Digital8” camcorders, while being the newer digital type are backwards compatible with the Video8 tapes. Also the Sony EV-C400E player, will play the tapes too.

So if anyone has an old Video8 camcorder or any of the above units & they might be interested in selling, I’d appreciate it if you could let me know & we’ll see if we can do a deal.

BTW, I have looked at eBay.ie but the choices are very limited.

I wonder what shocks lay in wait on those tapes!

wouldn't it be cheaper to take the tapes to one of those companys that restore old movies transfer tape to DVD

Yes, but I'd "prefer" to see what's on them myself first
